Pillar Programmes

Each programme provides scientific leadership and builds capability within a specific pillar, enabling the development and integration of new technologies across the Platform.

RNA Production

Over 600 RNA products delivered through a coordinated national effort, alongside ongoing optimisation of RNA production and lipid nanoparticle encapsulation.

Research projects

Three Flagship programmes and three Tactical projects are currently underway, with eight projects already delivered, strengthening pillar capabilities and the production facility to support scale-up.

Platform structure

A primary objective of the Platform is to strengthen New Zealand's capacity and resilience to rapidly design, develop, and manufacture new RNA vaccines and therapeutics. This capability will be critical for responding to future pandemics and addressing diseases that disproportionately affect our region and population.

The Platform is structured around six Pillars, each representing a key stage of the RNA development and manufacturing pipeline.
